For tourists there are museums, beautiful surroundings and great fishing for salmon, at sea or in the Mörrum river. Outside Karlshamn lies Sweden´s southernmost archipelago and the interesting Hanö island is not far away. Among the museums you will find a fascinating city museum, an 18th century merchant´s home, a seafaring museum and a little punsch (typical arrack liqeur) factory. The city is said to be built upon human delights - tobacco and liquor. The man portrayed on the little medallion on the Absolut Vodka bottle is Lars Olson Smith from Karlshamn!

Karlshamn is also known for being an emigration port in the late 19th century and the childhood home of Alice Tegnér, author of many children's songs.

In the third week of July each summer there is a Baltic Festival - a festival of music, trade and fun!
